1. What Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution is and what it is used for
Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution is used as an antacid prior to anaesthesia for caesarian section.
2. Before you take Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to sodium citrate or any of the other ingredients.
Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution is licensed for use by adults.
Tell your doctor or nurse if:
you suffer from aldosteronism, heart problems, kidney problems, high blood pressure, abnormally low levels of calcium in the blood or excessive accumulation of fluid in the body tissues (oedema)
or if:
you are taking other medication, in case this may be affected. Antacid treatments such as Sodium Citrate may affect the absorption or elimination of other medicines you may be taking.
3. How to take Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution
Your doctor or nurse will give you a whole container of Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution for you to drink.
If you take more than you should:
The main effects of overdose of sodium citrate are those of sodium overload. You will need special care until the levels of sodium can be brought down.
4. Possible side effects
There are normally no side effects if Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution is given as directed, but if you do experience any side effects or think you may be reacting badly in any way, inform your doctor or nurse immediately.
5. How to store Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution after the expiry date which is stated on the label. Your doctor or nurse will check this for you.
The containers should be stored at a temperature not above 25ºC and kept in the outer box.

What Sodium Citrate 0.3M Oral Solution contains:
The active ingredient is Sodium Citrate. Each bottle contains 2.647g of Sodium Citrate in 30 ml of Purified Water and Glycerol.
