What this medicine is for

This medicine contains soothing agents. It can be used to relieve irritating dry, tickly, coughs and sore throats.

Before you take this medicine
Do not take:
  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medicine
  • If you have an intolerance to some sugars, unless your doctor tells you to (this medicine contains glucose and sucrose)

You can take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Information about some of the ingredients: This medicine contains 4.2 g of total sugars per 5 ml spoonful. This should be taken into account if you have diabetes.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per 5 ml, that is to say essentially 'sodium-free'.

This medicine contains 10 mg of sodium benzoate in each 5 ml which is equivalent to 2 mg /1 ml. Sodium benzoate may increase jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) in newborn babies (up to 4 weeks old).

This medicine contains glucose. This may be harmful to the teeth. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

How to take this medicine

Check the seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not take the medicine.

Adults and children over 5 years: take two 5 ml spoonful’s 3 or 4 times a day

Children of 1 to 5 years: take one 5 ml spoonful 3 or 4 times a day

This medicine should be swallowed.

Do not give to children under 1 year.

Do not take more than the amount recommended above.

If symptoms do not go away talk to your doctor.

If you take too much: Talk to a pharmacist or doctor.

Possible side effects

Most people will not have problems.

If you get any of these serious side effects, stop taking the medicine. See a doctor at once:
  • Difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat (severe allergic reactions)

How to store this medicine

Do not store above 25°C

Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.

Use by the date on the end flap of the carton or on the label edge.

Active ingredients

Each 5 ml of oral solution contains Glycerol 0.75 ml, Liquid Sugar 1.93 ml.

Also contains: liquid glucose, purified water, citric acid, sodium benzoate (E211), flavours (treacle, liquorice, aniseed).
