Cold Sore Lotion
Read all of this leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you.
This medicine is available without prescription to treat minor conditions. However, you still need to use it carefully to get the best results from it.
What this medicine is for
Boots Cold Sore Lotion contains Camphor and Levomenthol which belong to a group of medicines called rubefacients which act by having a warming and pain relieving effect, and Benzyl Alcohol and 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol which belong to a group of medicines called antiseptics which act to treat infection and pain
It can be used to relieve and soothe the pain of cold sores.
Before you use this medicine
This medicine can be used by adults and children. However, some people should not use this medicine or should seek the advice of their pharmacist or doctor first.
Do not use:
You can use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you take other medicines
Before you use this medicine, make sure that you tell your pharmacist about ANY other medicines you might be using at the same time.
If you are unsure about interactions with any other medicines, talk to your pharmacist.
How to use this medicine
Check the seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not use the medicine.
Apply to the skin only.
Adults and Children: Dab onto the cold sore as soon as it first appears, with cotton wool.
Repeat frequently.
If symptoms do not go away talk to your doctor.
If you use too much or if anyone accidentally swallows some of the medicine: Talk to a doctor straight away.

Most people will not have problems, but some may get some. If you have any unwanted side effects you should seek advice from your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional.

How to store this medicine
Flammable
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Use by the date shown on the carton. After this date return any unused product to your nearest pharmacy for safe disposal.
What this medicine contains
This lotion contains Benzyl Alcohol 2% v/v, Camphor 0.1% w/v, Levomenthol 0.2% w/v and 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol 0.25% w/v which are the active ingredients.
As well as the active ingredients, the lotion also contains: industrial methylated spirits and propylene glycol.
The pack contains 10ml of lotion.
