There is surprisingly little consensus on this very important question. But what we do know is that having high quality, relevant and useful information is crucial in helping us make these important decisions about medicines.

Have you been affected by medicine shortages?
Medicines shortages have become an important issue for patients, healthcare professionals, the NHS and the manufacturers.
In October 2009, we surveyed eMC Medicine Guides users, asking them to share their experiences of any recent medicine shortages.
We shared what people told us with the UK medicines regulator (MHRA), the National Pharmacy Association, the Department of Health, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and others.
This was to ensure that the experiences of medicine users are taken into account when plans are put in place to resolve the issue of shortages.
