We are committed to making sure our websites are accessible for everyone,
including those with sight problems or other disabilities. We appreciate that some people
will use special assistive technologies to read our websites, such as screen readers and screen
magnifiers. We will try to make sure our websites work well with these tools.
Accessibility standards
Where possible, the electronic Medicines Compendium (eMC) website complies with the accessibility standards specified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Content
We write all the support text on our website, but most of the documents on our website are provided
directly by pharmaceutical companies. Some of these documents are written for healthcare
professionals using medical terms and so some people might not understand them.
For the text that we write, we try to make sure it is clear, simple and easy to understand.
- Headings highlight sections of text.
- Sentences are short.
- Links use meaningful text.
- Forms can be navigated using the tab key.
Design and layout
The website uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to control all the presentation and layout. Our page layout is consistent as you move from page to page.
We use contrasting text and backgrounds to improve visibility.
